Shelly is soon to be discharged

Shelly is being discharged soon, she still has pains but a bit less than yesterday and hopefully will feel completely well in a couple of days.

Thanks for all the well wishes by eMail, phone and SMS- we appreciate it very much. We’ll be able to reply to the eMails soon, but it is a bit difficult from the cellphone.

After surgery

Shelly is out of the operating theatre and is resting in the room. The operation went very well and she is in very little pain. Shelly is being a very brave girl :-)

I’m posting this from the phone, so it may be a little weirdly formatted, my apologies.

Sumsum’s Plaque and Ashes

W. N. Bull returned our baby’s ashes. They were very kind and sensitive to our needs.

Shelly and I decided to take our baby with us to Melbourne and scatter his ashes where we can return to remember him. We’ll find a beautiful spot and set him free at sunset.

Ashes to ashes…

The funeral directors informed us that Sumsum’s ashes are now ready for us to pick up, we’ll go there this afternoon.

We still need to decide where to scatter them. Shelly wants it at the sea at sunset, but we’re yet to decide if to do so in Sydney or in Melbourne.

All’s clear on the Sumsum front

This is a late update, but the events themselves kept us on our toes, so here goes:

Shelly and I had a frightful night between Monday and Tuesday as we had to take Shelly to the ER and spend the night at the ward for fear that we’re going to lose our baby. To our relief and gratitude the ultrasound examination in the morning revealed that all is OK and the doctor gave Sumsum and Shelly clean bills of health.

I’m glad to report we were both very brave and handled ourselves with stature even while facing the worst of prospects!

In other news — It seems that the University of Melbourne received AVMA accreditation, which removes a very large hurdle from the possibility of us moving to Melbourne, as it is by all accounts the better place to live. We are seriously considering it with a strong inclination to go there, Sydney is a bit too much of Tel Aviv to Melbourne’s Jerusalem.

The down side is that there’s a very nice company here in Manly which I was hoping to join if the situation allowed.

I’ll keep you in suspense for now… More updates to come.

Sumsum!

It looks like a cross between a peanut and an alien, but when he/she moves he/she is so cute!

I present to you, our lovely Sumsum(it)! As intercepted from ShellyBellyTV.

My 7cm long baby! Not including feet.

Video of the ultrasound session is here, see sumsum play!

p.s.
Sumsum is too young for its sex to be identified.

The last day in Israel begins…

This day is finally here, and I still do not completely grasp it.

Excited? Yes. Conflicted? Also.

Last arrangements to be made, final goodbyes.

Drama queen? Probably.

G’bye mates! See you on the other side.

All packed up and ready to go

These last two weeks have been about two things — Goodbyes and Packing.

Well, I can say that the easy part, packing, is done, our home is an empty shell with nothing but cardboard boxes waiting to be shipped or distributed to family and friends.

The goodbyes are still ongoing, and they are the hardest part. Last night we bid farewell to many of our dearest friends and it was an ambivalent party. People are happy for us, but sad that we’re leaving.
Today we went to say bye to Shelly’s extended family which was fun. Tomorrow we’ll finish our chores as quickly as possible and go say goodbye to friends. Monday is going to be crazy, as the hardest goodbyes will be dispatched, and the tears at the airport…
